Monday 14 March,
DAL will be closed as we observe this Public Holiday.
A Melbourne staple, take your place on the sidelines as the vitality and energy of Moomba is brought to life through the spectacular Moomba Parade. Starting near the Shrine of Remembrance and finishing near Linlithgow Avenue, the lively procession brings a flurry of colour and movement to Melbourne’s St Kilda Road.
Community designed floats are sure to dazzle in the spotlight this year and will be accompanied by droves of talented performance troupes, professional and amateur dance groups, as well as school participants.
In an effort to showcase our city’s creative and collaborative nature, this year’s Moomba Parade will feature floats and design elements designed by Melburnians who took part in last year’s float design workshop at the festival.
You can also make your mark by helping to decorate the People’s Float at Moomba on Saturday and Sunday, and then on Monday watch as your creative flair takes pride of place in the parade.
The parade will be officially opened by a Welcome to Country address from the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri tribe.
